Overview
The Logistics Information Training Course Catalog
is a source of information concerning the courses of instruction offered
by the Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS). DLIS is the focal
point for developing logistics information training materials, maintaining
this material in a current status and distributing it to the users.
We also provide training upon request.
History
of the Program
To combat a loss of expertise, the Executive Level Steering Group (ELSG)
directed HQ Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to organize a committee of
subordinate Services and Agencies to develop a training program for
Catalogers. In 1981, DLIS was appointed as the focal point for Federal
Cataloging System (FCS) Training.
Who Can
Take the Training?
In recognition of the fact that all people in the logistics arena are
not Supply Catalogers, the training program should not be limited but
extended to include all Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS)
users. The training courses have been developed and designed to provide
training for all FLIS users, including Department of Defense and Civil
agencies, regardless of title, at no cost to the agency, and are also
available to participating allied governments and the private sector.
Types of
Training Offered
DLIS offers training on all of our products and services. There are
many classes that offer platform (classroom) instruction as well as
Distributed Learning such as Computer Based Training (CBT), Web Based
Training (WBT), and Satellite Broadcast Training (SBT). We can tailor
courses to meet your individual service or agency needs, or address any
additional company concerns. Class locations can be held at DLIS, at
your work site, or at a central/regional location. Computer based
training is available on CD ROM. Web based training is
accessible from this web site to your personal computer.
We have an extensive program that keeps you updated on training
courses, Distributed Learning courses, and a schedule of availability.
Where Is
Training Conducted?
Training is provided around the world. The program had to be designed
for in-house (at DLIS) instruction, yet is flexible enough for the training
to be presented at your site as well. Click "Course Schedule"
on the left side of this screen to see when the courses are offered.
