DEFENSE REUTILIZATION AND MARKETING SERVICE (DRMS) DEMILITARIZATION REFERENCE PUBLICATION (DEMIL) CD-ROM

IN COMPLIANCE WITH SUBSECTION 455, CHAPTER 4, OF THE NATO MANUAL ON CODIFICATION, DATED AUG 82, THIS PUBLICATION DOES NOT CONTAIN NATO NSNs WITH NCB CODE OF 11 AND ABOVE. U.S. USERS MAY UTILIZE THE LOGRUN AND FED LOG TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION.

The DRMS DEMIL Reference CD-ROM is intended to be used by activities involved in property disposal to determine what special restrictions (if any) apply in the demilitarization of disposable material. The Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS) is responsible for the compilation, publication, distribution and maintenance of the DRMS DEMIL Reference CD-ROM.

The DRMS DEMIL Reference CD-ROM provides Demilitarization (DML) Codes for all active and inactive National Stock Numbers (NSNs) that are registered in the Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) data base, except for the following:

• National Security Agency (NSA) Items
• Security Classified Items
• Items without an Assigned Demilitarization Code

The DRMS DEMIL Reference publication is produced in its entirety bi-monthly on one Compact Disc - Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) which can be installed in either DOS or Windows (16 BIT and 32 BIT). A National Item Identification Number (NIIN) is selected and a pick list of Management Control Data is provided. DRMS DEMIL Reference CD-ROM allows users to search by: FSC, NIIN, SOS, Item Name, INC, Precious Metals Indicator Code (PMIC), Demilitarization (DEMIL) Code, Hazardous Materials Indicator Code (HMIC), Army - Material Category Code (MCC), Air Force - Material Management Aggregation Code (MMAC), and Navy - Special Material Identification Code (SMIC).

The technical data in the DRMS DEMIL Reference CD-ROM include National Stock Numbers (NSNs), Item Name, Proposed DML (PDML), Hazardous Material Indicator Codes (HMIC), DRMS Challenge Indicator Codes (CHL), Major Organizational Entity Codes (MOE), Controlled Inventory Item Codes (CIIC), Sources of Supply (SOS), Using Service Codes (USI), and certain Management Control Data for the Coast Guard, Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy. These data elements can be found under Data Codes and Definitions in the Table of Contents.
