The Management Data (MD) portion of this CD-ROM product is designed to provide users with supply management data on all NSNs recorded in the Catalog Management Data (CMD) segment of the Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) database. The Interchangeability and Substitutability (I&S) portion provides a reference source for determining the interchangeability and/or substitutability of items of supply. The MD/I&S is published in its entirety quarterly on one disc which can be installed in either DOS or Windows (16 BIT and 32 BIT). Each edition contains a total file replacement and supersedes all previous editions. The MD is a consolidated cumulative listing of National Stock Numbers. Each NSN is listed one time only and management data for each Integrated Materiel Manager (IMM) and Service/Agency (S/A) is listed on a separate line(s). No security-classified data is listed in the MD/I&S CD-ROM. You can search the MD by entering the Federal Supply Class (FSC), National Item Identification Number (NIIN), Item Name, Source of Supply (SOS) or Acquisition Advice Code (AAC). Results of specific searches are output on a Results List, identifying FSC, NIIN, Item Name and several management data codes. From here the highlighted item is displayed, providing all related data elements. The I&S is a list of items of supply, registered within the FLIS, that may be exchanged or substituted for another like item of supply. The I&S contains the NSN, Primary Inventory Control Activity (PICA), Item Name, Service, Related NSN, Order-of-Use Code (OOU), Jump-to Code (JTC) and Phrase Code (PC).
