Effective for applications submitted for the October 1, 1998 receipt date and
thereafter, NCRR announces the following change in its policy on funding resource
center–G12, M01, P41, and P51–grant applications. For all unsolicited,
competing continuation (Type 2) center grant applications, the requested increase
for first-year recurring direct costs (excluding equipment and alterations and
renovations) cannot exceed 20 percent of the recurring direct costs awarded in
the last noncompeting year.
Where this policy would significantly interfere with the program scope of the
proposed research or infrastructure support, a waiver of the 20 percent ceiling
must be justified and approved in writing by the appropriate NCRR Associate Director
before the competing continuation application will be accepted.
