NSF global change research programs support research and related activities that advance fundamental understanding of dynamic physical, biological, and socioeconomic systems as well as interactions among those systems. Specifically, ATM support contributes primarily to five global change programs:

Climate, Modeling, Analysis, and Prediction (CMAP)
Climate Variability and Predicatability (CLIVAR)
Earth System History (ESH)
Global Tropospheric Chemistry Program/International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (GTCP)
Solar Influences (Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric Regions; Geospace Environment Modeling; Radiative Inputs of the Sun to Earth)
Water and Energy: Atmospheric, Vegetative, and Earth Interactions (WEAVE)
