Performance Based Business Environment

Overview

Performance-Based Business Environment (PBBE) is a process whereby government / contractor relationships capitalize on commercial practice efficiencies to improve the military acquisition and sustainment environment. In this new environment, solicitations and contracts describe system performance requirements in a way that permits contractors' greater latitude than under historical acquisition methods to use their own design and manufacturing ingenuity to meet needs. Additionally, suppliers will compete and be selected based upon their proposed approaches, process effectiveness, and prior performance.
