Secretary of the Navy Instruction 5030.4A of 17 March 1986 restricts the use of the Department of the Navy seal, such as that you see on the welcome page of this web site, to official use only and to the exclusive use of the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense. Commands can likely obtain a digital copy from the command in their chain of command which has a graphics department.
An optional graphic is the Navy emblem. This graphic may be used without permission and is available by selecting the image below.
Note: Ethics regulations prohibit the Department of the Navy and its employees from using or permitting the use of Government position, title, or organization names in any manner that would suggest Navy or Government endorsement or preferential treatment of any non-Federal entity, event, product, service, or enterprise. We therefore request that any use of the Navy Emblem, logos, or other insignia be accompanied with the prominent disclaimer:
"Neither the Department of the Navy nor any other component of the Department of Defense has approved, endorsed, or authorized this product [or promotion, or service, or activity]."
The precise brown, red, blue, and gold of the Seal are the standard for the Navy Emblem. The Pantone® Matching System check-standard numbers are applicable to production of the emblem regardless of the method of reproduction or whether reproduction is to be on paper, cloth, glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, or any other base.
