Revised Flight Plan Comments Accepted Until October 15 Oct 14 - Friday, October 15th is your last opportunity to comment on the 2005-2009 Flight Plan, the multiyear strategy for the FAA through 2009. Now’s your chance to play a part in developing your organization. When the FAA first launched the Flight Plan, employees were asked to give their recommendations and suggestions. About 300 of your comments became part of the revised plan. |

Hot Air Ballooners Get a Lift from Flight Services
Land of Enchantment Tour Emphasizes Customer Support, Operations
Oct 13 - The 2004 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta took place last week, and for the fifth year in a row, pilots and crews could get flight planning briefings, maps, and weather patterns before climbing in their hot air or gas-filled balloon. The Albuquerque Automated Flight Service Station (AFSS) set up a temporary station directly at the site to help thousands of hot air balloon pilots negotiate winds, topography and thunderstorms. Flight Service personnel were on hand throughout to provide face-to-face pilot and crew briefings or by telephone for the cross-country races.

Early Retirements for ATO Employees in Bargaining Units Oct 12 - On Friday, Russ Chew notified ATO employees that beginning October 12, 2004, eligible bargaining-unit employees can submit applications for early retirement as part of the Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA). NATCA, PASS, LIUNA, AFGE, NFFE, and AFSCME were all notified. |

Oct 14 - Light rain is forecasted from BOS, south into the DC Metro area, west into the Ohio Valley. For the morning expect expanded MIT and possible ground stops. GDP’s are possible for EWR and PHL. A ground stop for ATL is possible due to low ceilings. Equipment outage: ZME long-range radar at Byhalia, MS OTS. Due to antenna failure. Minimal impact is expected for MEM departures. Expect expanded MIT for MEM arrivals.
