HHS Names New Members to Primary Care Advisory Committee

HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson has announced the appointment of eight health care professionals to serve on the Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry.  The committee counsels the Secretary and Congress on a wide range of policy and program issues in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, dentistry and physician assistant programs.
 
Joining the 23-member advisory committee for two-year terms are:   
 

  • Margaret I. Aguwa, D.O., M.P.H., professor and chair of family and community medicine, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich.;

  • David P. Asprey, Ph.D., P.A.-C., associate professor, Physician Assistant Program, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa;

  • Tammy L. Born, D.O., owner and chief medical officer, Born Preventive Health Care Clinic, Grand Rapids, Mich.;

  • Rudolfo R. Burquez, D.D.S., general dentist, Whittier, Calif;

  • Tina Lee Cheng, M.D., M.P.H., chief of general pediatrics and adolescent medicine, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md.;

  • Warren A. Heffron, M.D., professor of family and community medicine, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M.;

  • Man Wai Ng., D.D.S., M.P.H., pediatric dentist, Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; and

  • Eugene C. Rich, M.D., professor and chair of medicine, Creighton University, Omaha, Neb.
