Program Guidance Is Available for New Health Center Funding

Program guidance is now available at http://bphc.hrsa.gov/pinspals/pins.htm for organizations seeking FY 2004 grants for operational support under HRSA’s Consolidated Health Center Program.  The notice, numbered 2004-01 and titled "Fiscal Year 2004 Application Instructions for Service Area Competition (including all competing continuations) Funding for the Consolidated Health Center Program," includes eligibility requirements, review criteria and awarding factors.

Who may apply for this new funding? Currently funded health centers whose project periods expire on or after October 31, 2003, and new organizations proposing to serve the same communities covered by existing health centers are eligible. Organizations can also apply for areas designated in the HRSA Preview as currently being served by interim grantees.

Organizations eligible to compete may be tribal, faith-based, or community-based public or nonprofit private entities, but must have demonstrated experience in providing care for the medically underserved.  Interested organizations should refer to the HRSA Preview for specific information about application requirements and deadlines.

The Consolidated Health Center program includes community health centers, migrant health centers, health care for the homeless, public housing primary care and school-based health centers.
