Mission: The Directorate of Operations is responsible for establishing, maintaining and operating three major centralized DoD scientific and technical information databases: Technical Reports (TR), Research Summaries (RS) and Independent Research & Development (IR&D). It also acquires, selects, processes, stores and disseminates technical documents. Two divisions support its mission: the Collection Division which establishes, operates and maintains databases to enhance access to information; and the Document Management Division which processes hard copy, microfilm, multimedia and electronic technical information for DTIC's collection.
