  • TopicLINKS - directs you to locations and sources of information available from the Internet on topics that categorize the areas of scientific and technical interest that DTIC's field and group structure is based upon.

  • Defense Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Online System (DROLS) Retrieval Reference Guide - provides an overview of sign-on procedures, system comments, field identification codes, and examples of search strategies and display formats for the Technical Report Bibliographic, and Work Unit Information System (now known as Research Summaries Database (RS)), and Independent Research and Development Databases.

  • Directory of Organizational Technical Report Acronym Codes (DOTRAC) - lists the acronyms that DoD, Federal Government, foreign military, and nongovernment organizations have used in the report numbers assigned to their reports that have been processed into the DTIC collection.
    Cost: $15; DTIC Order Number: See Note above.

  • Subject Categorization Guide for Defense Science and Technology - provides a basis for the assignment of subject fields and groups to scientific and technical reports. Used primarily as a standardized mechanism for defining areas of need-to-know. The Guide covers 25 broad subject fields and 251 groups.

  • DTIC Cataloging Guidelines   - provides guidelines for applying the Committee on Scientific and Technical Information (COSATI) cataloging rules to the descriptive cataloging of technical reports. The draft is only available online. The 1994 edition can still be ordered. Cost:$11; DTIC Order Number: See Note above.

  • DTIC Thesaurus - DTIC's multidisciplinary subject term vocabulary used to index and retrieve information from DTIC's databases.
    Cost: $15 (paper), $49 (Diskette: ASCII, w/Dbase IV Runtime, & w/out Dbase IV Runtime); DTIC Order Number: See Note above.
  • Source Header List - two-volume listing of source names and their codes used to search DTIC's databases.
    Cost: $15 per volume; DTIC Order Numbers: See Note above.

  • Source Hierarchy List - three-volume hierarchical listing of related organizations and codes used to search DTIC's databases.
    Cost: $15 per volume; DTIC Order Numbers: See Note above.

  • Directory of Researchers for Manpower, Personnel, Training and Human Factors - lists individuals who perform and/or manage current people-related R&D;, studies, and related efforts for the Department of Defense, as well as representation from other non-Department of Defense organizations.
    Cost: $10; DTIC Order Number: See Note above.

  • DoD Directory of Resources - access to this diskette product (Macintosh format) is limited to U.S. Government organizations and their contractors. It identifies databases by subject, organization, and database name.

  • How To Get It: A Guide to Defense Related Information Sources - a reference tool which identifies and describes available Defense-related information and provides assistance in obtaining the information.

  • DoD STINFO Program Manager Training Course Training Manual - provides an overview of the principal elements of the DoD Scientific and Technical Information Program (STIP) and is the text for the training course.
    Cost: $11 (free to STINFO class attendees); DTIC Order Numbers: See Note above.
