COLONEL MARY KAY HERTOG
Colonel Mary Kay Hertog is commander of the 37th Training Wing, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the largest training wing in the U.S. Air Force. She is responsible for four primary training missions graduating more than 70,000 students annually, plus the support and operations of the base. Those four missions are the basic military training of all enlisted people entering the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard, operational training for a wide array of Air Force base support functions encompassing more than 390 separate courses, English language training for international military personnel from more than 110 countries at the Defense Language Institute English Language Center, and specialized maintenance and security training for Latin American students from more than 20 countries at the Inter-American Air Forces Academy. She was selected for promotion to brigadier general in December 2003.
Colonel Hertog entered the Air Force in 1978 as an AFROTC distinguished graduate. As a career security forces officer, she has worked at unit, major command, and Air Staff level in various positions, to include commanding several large security forces units.
