Public STINET (referred to as STINET) is available to the general public, free of charge. It provides access to citations of unclassified unlimited documents that have been entered into DTIC's Technical Reports Collection from December 1974, as well as the electronic full-text of many of these documents. Public STINET also provides access to the Air University Library Index to Military Periodicals, Staff College Automated Military Periodical Index, DoD Index to Specifications and Standards, and Research and Development Descriptive Summaries.

Ordering Printed Documents: Printed documents may be ordered only by registered DTIC users. The general public can order DTIC documents from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) at: http://www.ntis.gov/.

Private STINET includes everything in Public STINET and many additional unique features:

Ability to order documents online.
Access to citations to unclassified limited documents, including limited abstracts, in DTIC's Technical Reports Collection (depending on user profile)
Special Collections extracted from DTIC's Technical Reports Collection
