Preservation
DTIC®
is working to guarantee that digital information remains accessible over
time. The Defense Virtual Library (DVL) project has released a publication
titled Technical Metadata for Preservation. It can be found at: http://dvl.dtic.mil/metadata_guidelines/TechMetadata_26Mar02_1400.pdf.
The current project addresses continuing access to the content of multimedia
objects in DTIC's collection. Preservation projects also tie in with other
efforts such as building of XML DTDs and implementation of Handles. DTIC
is a member of the CENDI Digital Preservation Task Group which is exploring
high-level Federal government concerns for preservation of the public
record.
