Searching DTIC
Databases using Private STINET
This three-day, hands-on class covers the
content and methods for searching and retrieving scientific and
technical information using Private STINET. Private STINET is DTIC's
web based access to a variety of information resources, including
unclassified citations to classified documents. It is a newly merged
system that combines the features and collections of Secure STINET
and the search capabilities of Web Enabled DROLS (WED). The Technical
Reports Bibliographic Database, Research Summaries Database and
Independent Research & Development Database are discussed at
length. The focus of this course is to explore the information sources
available through Private STINET; to develop effective searching
strategies to retrieve information from DTIC's databases; to provide
practical search tips to effectively use the systems' unique search
features; and provide instruction for ordering documents and electronic
bibliographies.
