The Health Consequences of Smoking: A Report of the Surgeon General
Released in May 2004, this report reveals that smoking causes disease in nearly every organ of the body. It expands on the list of illnesses and conditions linked to cigarette smoking that was discussed in the 1964 Surgeon General's Report on Smoking.

Guide to Community Preventive Services: Tobacco Use and Control, CDC
This guide (2001) provides recommendations to decision makers about the types of interventions most appropriate for reducing tobacco use and exposure for different populations. Recommendations are based upon the strength of the evidence for each intervention type according to a systematic review process and are helpful to decision makers when selecting an intervention for specific groups or individuals.
