Ceremony and Workshop

As a recipient of a kidney from a non-living donor, I am honored to meet each donor family. And, as one who has never met my donor family, I count each donor family I meet as my own.

8th National Donor Recognition Ceremony and Workshop

July 12-13, 2003

Join the Federal Government and the transplant community in recognizing the compassion and generosity of those who have touched the lives of others through organ, tissue, and marrow donation.

Donors and donor family members will attend workshops and sharing sessions on Saturday, July 12. Transplant recipients and the public are invited to join them at the Sunday ceremony, July 13.

Saturday Workshops
Educational workshops and sharing sessions for donors and donor families are sponsored by the HRSA Division of Transplantation with assistance from the National Donor Family Council of the National Kidney Foundation and other national and local organizations.

Sunday Ceremony
Features tributes to the Nation's donors by government officials, transplant professionals and organ and tissue recipients. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, a passionate advocate of donation, has been invited to speak. Kenneth P. Moritsugu, M.D., M.P.H., Deputy Surgeon General, donor husband and donor father, will moderate. The public is invited to attend.

There is no cost, but you must pre-register for the programs.
