What is our privacy policy?

Thank you for visiting the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School Website and reviewing our privacy policy.

This site is provided as a public service by the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School on Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Your privacy is of great concern to us. The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps has been respecting the privacy of all those with whom we work for over two centuries.

You do not have to give us any personal information to visit our site. 

We do not routinely collect any personal information about people who visit our website.

We do not enable persistent "cookies" on our website (A "cookie" is a file placed on your hard drive by a website that allows it to monitor your use of the site, usually without your knowledge.) 

We do not give, sell or transfer any information to a third party except in the event of an authorized law-enforcement investigation.

All information on this site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. If you use our information, we request that you credit us with an appropriate byline, footnote or other reference.

What information do we collect automatically?

If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit.

  • The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our website;
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
  • The date and time you access our site;
  • The pages you visit; and
  • If you linked to the USACHCS website from another website, the address of that website.

How do we use information we collect automatically?

We use the limited information we collect to help us make our site more useful to visitors -- to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits. 

In the event of authorized law enforcement investigations, and pursuant to any required legal process, information from our system logs and other sources may be used to help identify an individual.

Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction. All data collection activities are in strict accordance with DoD Directive 5240.1.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage or interruptions.

What about email or web forms?

If you voluntarily choose to contact us (by email, on-line form, fax transmission or phone call) there are a few things you should know:

If you are a student, your communications may become part of your official student record.

If you are a vendor, contractor or other person with whom we do business, your communications may become part of the official record of our business relationship.

If you represent a government agency with whom we coordinate to accomplish our organizational mission, your communications may become part of our official staff files.

We do not keep permanent records of requests from the general public for information, or comments from the general public about our website or organization. We destroy our records of these communications after we have acted on them. (Send your questions and comments to the USACHCS Public Affairs Officer.)

We manage our official records in accordance with Army Regulation 25-1 (Army Information Management) and Army Regulation 25-400-2 (The Modern Army Record Keeping System). Any communication that becomes part of our official records may be seen only by those with lawful access to those records.

Your communication may be seen by more than one person. The recipient may forward your communication to others only if it is necessary to fulfill the official purpose of your communication.

Any communication that contains threats or other information about illegal activities may be forwarded to the appropriate legal authorities.

Email is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, or includes personal information like your bank account, charge card, or social security number, you might want to send it by postal mail instead.

What is our security policy?

This site is intended to be used by the public for viewing and retrieving information only. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1987 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

What is our policy on linking to other sites?

It is our policy not to promote commercial sites.  We do not solicit or accept suggested links from the public. On occasion we link to non-government sites.  We will post a link to a non-government site only if the content of that site is important to the USACHCS training mission or to the accomplishment of the religious support mission of the Army Chaplaincy.  Our linking to a non-government site does not imply endorsement of the content of the site other than to make its information available to the members of the Army Chaplaincy.  Questions concerning a site to which we link that is not controlled by USACHCS should be directed to the site’s controlling agency.

What is our accessibility policy?

The goal of the USACHCS web site is to provide accurate, timely information to all users. USACHCS supports the accessibility standards that accommodate disabled users of our websites.  Our pages are reviewed and revised to be accessible to individuals with disabilities in accordance with the provisions of  Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act amendments of 1998, as amended by the Workforce Investment Act.  For additional information, please see our accessibility policy statement page.
