Information dissemination is an important VA responsibility.
Compensation and Pension Service provides these fact sheets which are of
interest to veterans, servicepersons (including Reserve and National Guard
members), and their dependents and survivors.
Some fact sheets are not directly related to compensation and
pension benefits. They are included here because Compenation and Pension
Service is largely responsible for outreach and information dissemination on
the wide range of VA benefits. The service accomplishes that primarily through
Veterans Service Centers at 57 VA regional offices.
Veterans Service Center employees respond to telephone,
personal, correspondence, and e-mail inquiries. They conduct scheduled
briefings such as for the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and Disabled
Transition Assistance Program (DTAP) for separating military service persons .
Those briefings cover all VA benefits and services. They also conduct special,
customized briefings on request.
