Mission and Purpose
The
Interagency Committee on Government Information (ICGI) was
created in June 2003 to implement Section 207 of the EGovernment Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-347,
44 U.S.C. Ch 36).
The ICGI
has an extensive agenda to draft recommendations and share
effective practices for:
- Access
to federal government information.
- Dissemination of federal government
information.
- Retention of federal government information.
The
ultimate goal is to make it easier for all Americans to find
and use the government information and services they
need.

Executive
Committee
The ICGI
is managed by an Executive Committee, comprised of
representatives from the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB), the federal Chief Information Officers Council, the
National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and the
General Services Administration (GSA). The Committee has
established three Work Groups to carry out its
work.

ICGI Work
Groups and Work Plans
The
Committee established three Work Groups to carry out its
work.
The Work
Groups include representatives from throughout all three
branches of the federal government, and includes information
technology specialists, public affairs officers, librarians,
electronic records managers, web content managers,
e-government program managers, and others. The Work Groups are
available for consultation with any federal agency and will
solicit comments on its work from all agencies. The Work
Groups report to the ICGI Executive Committee.
