Cancer Prevention and Control Post-Doctoral Trainee:
The Division of Cancer Prevention and Control Research of the School of Public Health and Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), is accepting applications for a post-doctoral training program in population-based multi-disciplinary cancer prevention and control research. The program is funded by the National Cancer Institute/National Institute of Health (NCI/NIH), and features: tailored coursework including the option of completing a Master Public Health or (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree; research in collaboration with nationally-recognized senior faculty mentors; independent translational research leading to scientific publications and completion of grant applications. Traineeships can be for one to three years.

Cooperative Grants Program:
This program involves U.S.-based institutions of higher education for projects that creatively involve post-secondary international and U.S. study abroad students studying in the United States.

Cooperative Space Grant Education Program:
This NASA-sponsored program provides students and faculty with projects at the NASA Ames Research Center. Students and faculty members from undergraduate to post doctoral level at any accredited U.S. university may participate. The most relevant backgrounds are in the fields of engineering, information systems and communications, space science, physical sciences, life sciences, behavioral sciences, and mathematics.

Department of State Summer Clerical Program:
This program provides students age 16 and older with opportunities to work during the summer to assist in the relief on staffing shortages caused by Federal employees taking their summer vacation. Students gain value work experience while earning money to assist in furthering their education.

Education Associates Program (EdAP):
This Cooperative Space Grant Education Program links students and faculty with projects at NASA Ames Research Center. The program is open to, and utilizes, most major areas of study. The most relevant backgrounds are in the fields of engineering, information systems and communications, space sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, behavioral sciences, mathematics, and business.

Federal Student Educational Employment Program:
This program offers student employment opportunities with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) throughout the year. The Federal Student Educational Employment Program provides either temporary employment for up to 1-year, or career-related employment under the Career Experience Component. Global Change Education Program - Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS):
This program gives minority undergraduates the opportunity to work with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Biological and Environmental Research and take part in a global change research project.

Global Change Education Program - Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE):
This program gives undergraduates the opportunity to work with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Biological and Environmental Research and take part in a global change research project conducted at a prominent national laboratory.

Laboratory Research Cooperative Program (LRCP):
This program is designed for continuous research and the long-term exchange of information between university or college professors and laboratory personnel at U.S. Army centers of research. LRCP objectives include working on broad scientific and technical problems of interest to the U.S. Army and advancing the state of the art within the discipline under study.

Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA Cooperative Program:
The MSFC Co-op Education Program consists of a series of planned work assignments performed in laboratories, offices, and other related work areas, alternating with periods of related academic study. It is designed for qualified students in the fields of science, engineering, professional administration, and other occupational fields. The Co-op Program provides a resource for potential employment with NASA following successful completion of the program and graduation from college.

NASA Cooperative Education Programs:
This program is designed to combine academic studies with on-the-job training and experience and to give students an opportunity to work at a NASA Field Center while completing their education.

NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program (GSRP): This program awards fellowships for graduate study leading to research-based masters or doctoral degrees in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering.

Naval Research Laboratory Student Career Experience Program (SCEP):
This program is designed to assist managers in contacting students they desire to hire. This program also provides students with opportunities to seek permanent employment upon graduation.

Naval Research Laboratory Student Volunteers:
This program provides students with volunteer service opportunities as part of an agency program established to provide educational experience. The work is done strictly on an uncompensated basis. The acceptance of student volunteer services enables departments and agencies to contribute to the enrichment of educational programs.

Naval Research Laboratory Summer Employment Program:
This program seeks to employ students using three broad categories.

Naval Research Laboratory Summer Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP):
This program seeks to employ students year round.

Outstanding Scholar Program:
Under this program, some agencies can directly hire entry level applicants who have maintained an undergraduate grade point average of 3.5 or better, or who graduated in the upper 10% of their graduating class or major university subdivision. Applicants can apply nine months before graduation.

Program Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Engineering (IMAGE):
The program is aimed at increasing the number of minorities completing graduate degrees in engineering at Florida A&M; University. The program provides financial and academic support for participants throughout their undergraduate years of study, and upon graduation, offers assistance in pursuing graduate study and employment.

Project Strategic Preparedness Advancing Careers in Engineering/Sciences (SPACE):
The primary goal of this 10-week program is to give high-achieving students the opportunity to pursue undergraduate studies in engineering, mathematics, and physical science at Morehouse College. Participants of the program (Ronald E. McNair Scholars) are awarded scholarships that cover the cost of their undergraduate education.

Secret Service Cooperative Education Employment:
This program provides students with opportunities to participate in a two-year work-study program consistent with their field of study. The program provides an excellent avenue for the Secret Service to identify and train highly motivated individuals.

Short-Term Analytical Services (STAS):
This program is designed to procure analysts/scientists to provide analyses, advice and assistance on a short-term or intermittent basis for the resolution of specific scientific or technological problems when the objectives can be reached in a short time and the expertise required is not available at the requesting Government laboratory. STAS tasks provide for a quick response to resolve specific scientific or technological problems associated with missions of Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian agency sponsors.

Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) at NASA Ames Research Center:
This program provides paid work experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. Students may work part-time while attending school part-time or attend school full time, alternating with periods of full-time work. The SCEP normally provides noncompetitive conversion to a term or permanent position.

Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) at NASA - AMES Research Center:
This program provides paid training and work opportunities to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Students may work full-time or part-time at any time during the year. Ames specializes in scientific research, exploration, and applications aimed toward creating new technology for the nation.

Summer High School Apprenticeship Research Program (SHARP):
This 8-week summer program is designed to provide research work experience for underrepresented high school juniors. Applicants must reside within commuting distance of NASA Ames Research Center.

Summer Institute in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Research (SISTER):
This 5-day program at the Goddard Space Flight Center provides middle-school girls with an opportunity to explore nontraditional career fields with women engineers, mathematicians, scientists, and researchers.

Summer Transportation Camp:
The Career Awareness Project goal is to foster a comprehensive view of the transportation development and construction trade industries.

Undergraduate Student Trainee Program:
This cooperative education program with the Central Intelligence Agency provides highly motivated undergraduate students with opportunities to gain practical work experience in combination with their academic studies. Students will work with highly-skilled professionals and see first-hand the role the CIA plays in supporting U.S. officials who make our country's foreign policy.

United States Army High School Science & Mathematics Faculty Program (HSSMFP):
This program provides opportunities for outstanding high school teachers. The HSSMFP aims to develop a hands-on appreciation of the professional challenges undertaken by scientists and engineers in order to provide a personal experience from which to counsel and encourage students to undertake and continue science and mathematics curricula. Through the HSSMFP, Army organizations host faculty members for the entire summer.

United States Department of State, Stay in School Program:
This program employs approximately 40 students starting at age 16. Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in any high school, vocational school, or baccalaureate program. Students with a disability are eligible to participate in the program regardless of financial need. Students may work part-time when school is in session and full-time during vacation periods.

United States Fish and Wildlife Service:
This Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) is designed to recruit students at least 16 years of age into the Federal Service. The program provides student's with exposure to public service, promotes education, and enhances employment opportunities with the agency once they graduate.

United States Secret Service, Stay in School Program:
This program employs students 16 years of age and older to fill vacant positions in more than 125 offices throughout the United States and abroad. Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in any high school, vocational school, or baccalaureate program. Students may work part-time when school is in session and full-time during vacation periods.
