Recent Changes To Passenger Checkpoint Screening Procedure

All passengers must continue to go through metal detectors and put their carry-on items through X-ray; extra measures will be applied to those persons referred to additional screening.

The new procedures require:

Passengers, such as the one shown here, will save time by removing all coats prior to reaching the security checkpoint and placing them in bins.
Passengers, such as the one shown here, will save time by removing all coats prior to reaching the security checkpoint and placing them in bins.

  • You to remove ALL coats and place them in the X-ray.  This includes suit and sport coats, athletic warm-up jackets, and blazers.  If the coat or jacket is used as the innermost layer of clothing, you do not need to remove it.

TIP: To help speed the security process, remove all coats prior to reaching the checkpoint.  You will save time by consolidating your belongings - divested clothing can now be placed  on top of laptops, shoes or other articles in bins submitted for X-ray.

  • A more extensive pat down will be conducted if you alarm the metal detector or are referred to additional screening. As is the case today, screeners will verbalize the process as they conduct the inspection.  You may also request a private screening.

Remember to plan your trip in advance and review the prohibited items list before you pack your belongings.  Also, we suggest you check the security checkpoint wait times to help plan your arrival time at the airport.
