  • 2000 Travel Managers of the Year Award

DOT’s second “Travel Managers of the Year” award was granted for the procurement and deployment of the first federalized travel booking engine, FedTrip. This web based reservation system allowed federal travelers for the first time to book government fares online. This new way of obtaining travel services benefited government agencies by reducing travel processing costs while ensuring high quality reservation services.

  • 1999 Travel Managers of the Year Award

DOT was awarded Government Executive’s first annual “Travel Managers of the Year” award for introducing an innovative approach to the procurement of travel management services in the Federal government. This approach included the development of a service fee structure based on levels of travel reservation automation and an incentive program to reward better quality with greater participation in savings.
