Photographs by Joyce Tenneson
West Gallery - through October 21, 2004 Renowned photographer Joyce Tenneson is best known for her compelling black-and-white studies of people, particularly those featured in her books Wise Women (2002) and Amazing Men (2004). But Ms. Tenneson is also drawn to exploring the beauty of flowers. The photographs in this exhibit are magnificent – enormous, color "portraits" taken from her new book, Intimacy: The Sensual Essence of Flowers, being published in September 2004. Ms. Tenneson says: "Photographing these flowers has made me see the world differently. . . . As I began to explore their world more intimately . . . I was allowed to observe their secret life in all its sensual detail. For me it was a revelation."
