Middleware And Grid Infrastructure (MAGIC)

The Large Scale Networking (LSN) Coordinating Group of the Interagency Working Group for Information Technology Research and Development established in February, 2002, the Middleware And Grid Infrastructure Coordination (MAGIC) Team. MAGIC includes representation from Federal agencies, industry, academia, and other groups with an interest in middleware and Grid infrastructure. The scope and activities of MAGIC include:

  • Coordinating R&D program directions for grid applications and middleware

  • Facilitating the creation of national Grids

  • Coordinating technical activities and sharing of resources among projects and programs

  • Expediting operations and resolving emerging problems and technical issues

  • Promoting interoperability, identifyinrg best practices, and encouraging technical consensus

  • Coordinating international issues

  • Addressing issues of persistence and long-term support for tools and infrastructure

  • Providing outreach and information to potential users
