SDP R&D focuses on enabling fundamental improvements in software quality and its development. A key aspect is to understand the trade-offs between cost and quality. Areas of focus include:

  • software engineering of complex systems

  • end-user programming, including intelligent templates, domain-specific languages and tools, and programming by example

  • component-based software development

  • embedded software

  • autonomous software

  • middleware for distributed systems
