DOE is offering grants to small businesses that are
developing a wide range of energy efficiency and renewable
energy technologies. Grants of up to $100,000 will allow
businesses to investigate the feasibility of new technologies;

Energy Trust of Oregon Yields Big Energy Savings
The Energy Trust of Oregon completed its first full year of
operation in 2003, and has generated enough energy savings
and clean energy to power 23,000 Oregon homes. The
Energy Trust has supported thousands of energy efficiency
projects, 78 solar power projects, and a large wind plant. More

National Solar Tour Kicks Off on October 2nd
The ninth annual National Solar Tour takes place across the
United States on October 2nd, as a variety of solar homes
and buildings open their doors to the public. This year, local

San Francisco to Include Efficiency and Solar Power in 1,600 Homes
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has
approved an agreement with Lennar/BVHP to include energy
efficiency measures and solar electric systems in the
construction of 1,600 residential housing units, to be located
on land that was part of the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. More

Energy Efficiency Yields Big Savings for Mississippi Schools
Recent energy efficiency improvements to 20 schools in the
Mississippi's Harrison County School District are expected to
yield more than $390,000 in energy savings each year.
Thankfully, the schools also managed to dodge any
significant damage from Hurricane Ivan as it passed by. More

California Utility Reopens Residential Energy Efficiency Program
Pacific Gas and Electric Company, one of the largest utilities
in California, has found funding to reopen its popular energy
efficiency rebate program for homeowners, while California's
other large utilities continue to run low on funds for their

Energy-Efficient Solar Homes Sprouting Up Nationwide
A 90-home community in Lakeport, California, will consist
entirely of energy-efficient solar homes, marking a growing
U.S. trend. DOE is developing homes that produce nearly as
much energy over the course of a year as they consume, as
recently demonstrated by Oak Ridge National Laboratory. More

a new Web site that provides easy access to information

California Plans to Install Solar Power on One Million Homes
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled a plan
on August 20th to install solar power systems on one million
homes by 2017. To help meet the goal, as of 2008, builders
of subdivisions with 25 new houses or more will have to offer
