In June 2004, the FedBizOpps program made the finals in a field of 260 candidates for the 2004 Government Technology Leadership Awards (GTLA) presented by the Government Executive magazine in partnership with the Council for Excellence in Government. Known as the Gracies, in honor of Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, the Navy’s renowned technology trailblazer, this awards program recognizes Federal projects for making exceptional contributions to mission accomplishment, cost effectiveness and service to the public toward achieving the evolving goals of e-government. In January 2004, the FedBizOpps program was selected by the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government as one the Top 10 Federal programs and one of the Top 50 “most creative, forward-thinking, results-driven government programs at the state, local, tribal and federal levels.” FedBizOpps was selected out of a field of nearly 1000 applicants as representative of the “best and brightest” in government for its “novelty; effectiveness in addressing important problems; significance; and potential for replication by other government entities.” See the related article at http://www.ashinstitute.harvard.edu/semifinalists_2004.html and at http://www.ashinstitute.harvard.edu/awards/top50.pdf.

In October 2003, FedBizOpps was honored as a GCN Agency Award winner for innovative IT accomplishments. The award, sponsored by PostNewsWeek Tech Media and industry leaders, was conferred on the FedBizOpps team for its demonstrated record of excellence in applying IT. In August 2002, FedBizOpps was declared a winner in the competition for the Federal Acquisition award, "Business Solutions in the Public Interest" (BSPI), which identifies and celebrates acquisition teams and agency leaders, who have used acquisition effectively and creatively to help achieve agency missions. As a recipient of this award - administered by Government Executive magazine and the Council for Excellence in Government in partnership with the OMB Office of Federal Procurement Policy - FedBizOpps is honored for its role in creatively changing practices, its significant contribution to achieving Presidential and agency mission, goals and objectives and its tangible results. In June 2002, the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils (FGIPC) presented the FedBizOpps program with an Intergovernmental Solutions Award (ISA) for having demonstrated intergovernmental involvement of two or more levels of government in successfully delivering services to the citizens. FedBizOpps won on the merits of its contributions as an intergovernmental, value-added program, leveraging existing agency systems and providing a tangible, operational, available, and transferable resource, innovative in its use of technology.

In the February 7, 2002, meeting of the Procurement Executives Council (PEC, now the Federal Acquisition Council), Angela Styles, Administrator for Federal Procurement Policy, and Gary Krump, PEC Vice Chairman, presided over an awards ceremony to honor individuals responsible for the success of the FedBizOpps program. Angela acknowledged the impressive performance and growth of FedBizOpps from January 2001 to January 2002 and the example of the FedBizOpps program as a leading government model for cross-agency cooperation. FedBizOpps then (August 2002) serviced over 26 million monthly site visits, an inventory of over 380,000 solicitation documents and a user community including 92 agencies, over 20,600 Federal buyers and over 230,000 vendors registered for FBO notification service.
