In partnership with the private sector, state and
local government, national laboratories, and universities,
the Building Technologies
Program works to improve the efficiency of buildings and the equipment,
components, and systems within them. The program supports
R&D
activities and provides tools, guidelines, training, and
access to technical and financial resources.
To learn more about building program partnerships, visit Program
Areas. Another helpful tool is EnergyPartners,
a one-stop resource for information on building programs, partnerships,
and project results.
Buildings Solicitations
Much of the research conducted by DOE's Building Technologies Program
is funded through competitive solicitations. The building program
selects research partners and projects based on factors such as
energy saving potential, likelihood of success, and alignment with
the recommendations of industry-developed technology roadmaps.
The Financial Opportunities
area of this Web site provides more detailed guidance on building-related
solicitations. In addition, the National
Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Electronic Business Center
provides up-to-date information on building solicitations issued
through NETL. DOE's Seattle Regional Office also publishes a monthly
compilation of solicitations relating to energy efficiency,
renewable energy, and sustainable development.
DOE National Laboratories
The work of the Building Technologies Program is supported by DOE
national laboratories. These laboratories have extensive R&D;
expertise and unique facilities and equipment. They form partnerships
with industry, academia, and other research groups on projects that
advance energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
Golden Field Office
As EERE's primary field agent, the Golden Field Office serves as
a catalyst for partnerships between DOE, its laboratories, and the
private sector. See the Golden
Field Office Web site to find out about current projects and
open solicitations for financial assistance.
Regional Offices
EERE's six regional officeslocated in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago,
Denver, Philadelphia, and Seattleprovide project management
and technology deloyment support while serving as liaisons between
EERE programs and state and local governments. Contact the nearest
regional office to find out what projects
are under way in your area.
