Digital Talking Book - Section 508 Standards

A Digital Talking Book (DTB) provides print information in an audible format and offers advanced navigational features.  Developed by gh, L.L.C. of West Lafayette, Indiana, DTBs include marked-up text files with synchronized speech that are read by a software program known as the gh PLAYER™.  You will need to download and install a copy of the gh PLAYER™ onto your computer which is available free from gh's website.

Directions:

  1. Download and install a copy of the gh PLAYER™ at www.ghbraille.com/playerdownload.html.

  2. Download the desired book files available on this page by clicking on the links below.  One book contains a copy of the section 508 standards, the other provides an introduction to these standards.  Once loaded to your computer, locate and execute the files (double clicking the icon will unzip the self-extracting files).

  3. Open the gh PLAYER, select "Open" under "File," then select the book file you want to read in the "Open File" dialog box; or go to the folder C:\Program Files\gh\gh Digital Talking Books\  and open the book file (.opf extension) that you want to read in the gh PLAYER.
