WASHINGTON – House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today praised President Bush for exhibiting leadership and vision by outlining a new and exciting mission for NASA.

“A national commitment to space is not a voluntary initiative: it is a strategic imperative,” DeLay said. “The new mission for NASA is the next giant leap for mankind.

“The president's vision is exactly what NASA needs: a bold, unifying mission that honors America's forty-year legacy of triumph and sacrifice in human space flight,” DeLay said.

“I couldn't be happier with the president's vision, nor prouder of the brave and brilliant people of NASA who will make this dream come true.”

DeLay’s current suburban Houston congressional district is a neighbor of NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC). Under the new congressional district lines, the JSC is included in the 22^{nd District.}
