DeLay: President Proposes Optimistic Agenda
Onus Now on Congress to Follow President’s Lead

WASHINGTON –
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today embraced the message of a stronger, safer America submitted by President Bush in his State of the Union Address.

“Tonight we saw a strong moral leader set an optimistic agenda for our nation,” DeLay said. “The onus is now on Congress to follow his lead.

“President Bush’s message covered the most important issues facing the individual, the family, and the world: exporting democracy and winning the war on terror, growing our economy, and strengthening the family.

“I especially look forward to receiving the president’s budget and ensuring our pro-growth economic policies will not budge,” DeLay said.

“With the president’s agenda in place, Congress can start this session with confidence, knowing our president will not relent until we strengthen our security, grow our economy, and deepen our values.”
