DeLay: No Retreat, No Surrender, No
Apologies WASHINGTON – House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today spoke in strong support of our fight against terror as the House debated a resolution commending the members of the United States Armed Forces and Coalition forces for liberating Iraq. “Had we not acted – as our opponents wished – Iraq would still be enslaved,” DeLay said. “Terrorists would still enjoy a strategic ally and safe haven in Baghdad, and we’d still be fighting the war on terror with U.N. resolutions . . . and losing. “Instead, Iraq is free, America is safer, and the world has changed for the better. “Too many Democrats seem to prefer to ignore the war on terror or choose to see it as ‘far less of a military operation and far more of a . . . law enforcement operation,’” DeLay said. “Should the United States appease international terrorists and pretend they are a law-enforcement problem, or fight them as the military threat they are?” DeLay also criticized the duplicitous actions of congressional Democrats who argued against the resolution and spewed hateful rhetoric towards our commander in chief yet turned around and voted for the bill. The Iraq Resolution falls at the one-year anniversary of the United States’ initiation of military operations in Iraq. The resolution passed the House by a vote of 327 to 93, with 7 Democrats voting present. |
