Aging: Etiologies and new therapies for Alzheimer's disease.

Behavioral Science: Endogenous opioids, stress and hypertension; etiologies for drug-seeking behavior. Cardiology and Biomedical Engineering: Mechanisms and novel therapies for congestive heart failure; mechanisms for syncope.

Gastroenterology: Cytokines and alcoholic hepatitis; cytokines and cytochrome P450 regulation; oxidative stress-sensitive transcription factors (e.g., NFkB) and gastrointestinal diseases; novel therapies for pancreatitis.

Immunology and Transplantation: Novel therapies for transplant rejection including specific monoclonal antibodies.

Infectious Diseases: New therapies for AIDS, alcohol-AIDS interactions.

Neurology: Etiology and therapy for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; mechanisms of altered metabolism following brain injury; nutritional and metabolic response to head injury and growth factor therapy following head injury.

Nutrition: Nutrition in trauma and transplantation patients, alcoholics, HIV patients, and eating disorder subjects.

Obstetrics and Gynecology: Postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Oncology: Novel "vaccine therapy" for specific cancers (melanoma, colon cancer); circadian rhythm and cancer chemotherapy.

Pharmacy: Targeted drug delivery; drug metabolism and drug delivery in breast milk.

Psychiatry: Nutritional and metabolic abnormalities in and therapies for eating disorders.

Pulmonary Disorders: Mechanisms and treatment of adult respiratory distress syndrome.

Renal Diseases: Metabolic bone disease.
