 | Field Operations Offices
There are 20 Field Operations Offices in the United States that provide centralized management oversight and operational assistance to 317 U.S. ports of entry. Established geographically by region, Field Operations Offices serve as the spokes of a wheel for CBP Headquarters to distribute key policies and procedures to field staff. Field Operations Offices provide guidance to their regional ports and ensure the dissemination and implementation of core CBP guidelines. These offices also provide for mission support functions within their regions; such as, resource management, equal employment opportunity, labor, employee relations, and other human resources management functions. | |
| Ports Of Entry
Ports of entry are responsible for daily port specific operations. There are 317 official ports of entry in the United States and 14 preclearance stations in Canada and the Caribbean. Port personnel are the face at the border for most cargo and visitors entering the United States. Here CBP enforces the import and export laws and regulations of the U.S. federal government and conducts immigration policy and programs. Ports also perform agriculture inspections to protect the USA from potential carriers of animal and plant pests or diseases that could cause serious damage to America's crops, livestock, pets, and the environment. | |

There are 70 Deferred Inspections Sites throughout the United States and the outlying territories where incoming aliens are referred when documentation requires additional review and/or possible correction. | |

The U.S. Border Patrol has 20 sectors responsible for detecting, interdicting and apprehending those who attempt to illegally enter or smuggle people, including terrorists, or contraband, including weapons of mass destruction, across U.S. borders between official ports of entry. | |
| Press Officers
In addition to the Press Office at Headquarters, there are eleven press officers around the country who act as spokesmen for Customs and Border Protection. Members of the press may contact the press officer in the location nearest them. If the issue is national in scope, contact the Press Office in Washington, D.C. If you are not a member of the working press, these offices will not be able to assist you.

The National Finance Center (NFC) is responsible for the administration and operation of CBP accounting programs and maintains central control over its fiscal and accounting activities. | |
