Launched in April 1997, healthfinder® served Internet users over 1.7 million times in its first year online; in 1999, the site received 94 million hits and 4,549,810 visits!

The Combined Health Information Database (CHID) biographic database produced by health-related agencies of the Federal Government. This database provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health information and health education resources.

Federal Consumer Information Center, Pueblo, Colorado
This Web site contains hundreds of consumer publications that you can read or order on-line. Site also has access for searching, consumer news, and links. http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov. From this site, you can access the Federal Information Center (FIC), a single point of contact for people who have questions about Federal agencies, programs, and services. The FIC currently responds to nearly 3 million calls per year via its nationwide, toll-free numbers. This site was designed to refer you to resources that can help answer some of the most frequently asked questions handled by the FIC. For questions about products other than food, medicines, toys, household products, and automobiles that may be subject to recalls ordered by the Federal Government, or if you would like to learn how to report a possible defect in a specific product, contact the Federal Information Center.

The Federal Trade Commission enforces a variety of federal antitrust and consumer protection laws. The Commission seeks to ensure that the nation's markets function competitively, and are vigorous, efficient, and free of undue restrictions. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Meat and Poultry Hotline is a toll-free telephone service that helps consumers prevent foodborne illness, specifically by answering their questions about safe storage, handling, and preparation of meat and poultry products. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulates the safety of toys; household products such as furniture, appliances, and lawnmowers; recreational equipment; and other off-road vehicles such as snowmobiles. The CPSC posts information on its recalls both by the date of the relevant press release or by the type of product recalled. For more information on products that the CPSC regulates, you may call their toll-free hotline at 800/638-CPSC (TTY: 800/638-8270).
