Helpful Hints for New Users


1. Navigational Buttons: To avoid problems, always use the form navigational buttons when they are available (SUBMIT, RESET, PREVIOUS FORM, etc.) instead of using the Forward and Back buttons on your web browser.

2. Database Errors: The majority of the time when you receive a "Database Error" message it is caused by an invalid e-mail address. Retrace your steps using the navigation buttons (PREVIOUS FORM, etc.) and double check to make sure that all e-mail addresses are valid. If this does not resolve the problem, contact DTIC at gils@dtic.mil.

3. Add/Delete Buttons: When inserting or editing a record, any field which is repeatable will have "Add" and "Delete" buttons. Clicking on "Add" will create an additional box for entering text. Clicking on the "Delete" will remove the input box beside the button.

4. Login Failed: On occasion you may receive the message "Login Failed". If you do, hit your back button and follow the instructions provided for logging back into the system (Enter "EDIT" for "User Name:" and leave the "User Password:" block empty).

5. Record Locked: On occasion you may also receive the message "Record Locked by Another User" when trying to edit or delete a record. This occurs not only when someone else is accessing the record but also when you inadvertently re-enter the system without logging out first. This is one of the problem which can be caused by using the Forward and Back buttons on your web browser instead of the navigational buttons (see item 1).
