Where Discoveries Begin

[agency logo]

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is a Federal agency which promotes science and engineering research and education in the United States. It does this through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements to colleges, universities, and other research and/or education institutions. The agency does not operate its own laboratories, but does support national research centers, certain oceanographic vessels, and Antarctic research stations. The Foundation also supports cooperative agreements between universities and industry as well as U.S. participation in international scientific efforts. The NSF is located in Arlington, Virginia.

Paid student employment opportunities are available throughout the year for clerical and student trainee positions in such fields as contracting, computer science, and accounting. To request a copy of a vacancy announcement for student employment opportunities and application procedures, please contact Ms. Madalyn Chisley on (703) 292-4350 or access the NSF website on http://www.nsf.gov/oirm/ . Hearing impaired individuals may call TDD (703) 292-8044.
