John Gunther Dean's Oral History

Ambassador John Gunther Dean has donated his personal papers to the Jimmy Carter Library. Dean was U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, Denmark, Lebanon, Thailand, and India during a Foreign Service career that began in 1956 and ended with his retirement in 1989.

The Library has begun processing the Dean Papers and will open the pre-1977 portion of the collection soon. In the meantime, the Library is making Ambassador Dean's oral history available. Click on the links below for each chapter of the oral history transcript.

These interviews were conducted by the Foreign Affairs Oral History Program of the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training. For more information, visit their web site at: www.adst.org
