Form Search

You may search for Federal Forms contained within the FedForms database by using a Search String, by choosing a Federal agency/subagency, or by both in combination.

        * To search by Search String:

Example 1: You wish to find all forms within the database that contain the word "tax".

You would type the word "tax" (without quotes) in the Search String entry box and check the button next to Containing Text. The result of this search will be all forms in the database that contain the word tax somewhere within the record for that form.

Example 2: You wish to find the "Income Contingent Repayment Plan, Consent to Disclosure of Tax Information" form. You would type in the form name and select Exact Match. This will ensure that only forms with that EXACT name are located.

Note: If you do not enter any search string and hit the submit button, all Forms within the database will be returned.

        *To search by Federal agency/subagency:

Click on the drop down list next to Agency. This will bring up a list of all agencies with forms in the FedForms database. Highlight the agency you wish to view forms for. You may then hit submit to view all forms for that agency.

If there is a specific subagency whose forms you would like to find, select an agency from the agency drop down list, then select a subagency from the list of subagencies. You may then hit submit to view all forms for that subagency.

If you do not enter an agency/subagency, all Forms within the database will be found.

        * To search by a combination of Search String and Federal agency/subagency:

You may enter a search string in the entry box next to Search String. Then select an agency/subagency. This will return all forms within the FedForms database that either contain the search string or are an exact match (depending on which you have selected) for the agency/subagency you chose.

Example: You wish to find all forms containing the words "student loans" that are provided by the Department of Education. You should enter the words "student loans" (without quotes) in the entry box next to Search String. Then select Department of Education from the agency box. Do not choose a subagency, as you want to view ALL forms for student loans from the entire Department of Education. Once you hit the Submit button, you will be given all forms containing the words "student loans" that are provided to the database by the Department of Education.

Note: The Result List for all searches will be presented in alphabetical order by Form Title, unless you specifically indicate Agency or Form Number order.

If you do not find the form you are looking for, you may find a link to the agency responsible for the form on our Links page or try the Firstgov Search.
