Public Outreach and Education Services Branch

School of 5 orange fishThe Public Outreach and Education Services Branch was established to design resources and implement strategies to increase communications and understanding between the agency, our constituents and the general public.

The team maintains the national NOAA Fisheries web page, publishes the FishNews listserve, responds to inquiries through Cyber.Fish, coordinates outreach and stakeholder events, arranges speaking engagements, designs and deploys informational and educational materials, and coordinates special projects supportive of the agency and its mission.

Internally, the team designs and maintains a number if communication resources to support NOAA Fisheries programs, including a national exhibits program, programmatic assistance with communications plans, outreach materials, coordination of web designs, and the development of a national constituent database.

The team also provides support for the Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee (MAFAC), the advisory body to the Secretary of Commerce on all living marine resource issues under the jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce.
