With the recent formation of the Pacific Island Division, the SWD has the opportunity to focus solely on California issues.

Nearly 1,340 miles of coastline, over 263,000 square miles of open ocean and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams are located within the Southwest Division. Add 32 million people to the equation and it can eaily be seen the enormity of the Southwest's role in marine resource enforcement.

Twenty-two special agents and two enforcement officers are responsible for the enforcement provisions found in four Fishery Management Plans, three International Management Plans, seven National Marine Sanctuaries and the South Pacific Tuna Treaty.

The Southwest Division (SWD) is comprised of California, Nevada and Arizona.
