RICHARD ZAIGER NAMED REGIONAL DIRECTOR,
BOSTON REGION OF THE FEDERAL LABOR RELATIONS AUTHORITY

Richard Zaiger has been named Regional Director of the Boston Regional Office of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA).

Since 1979, Mr. Zaiger has served as Regional Attorney in the Boston Regional Office. Prior to that, he held several different positions within various components of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC, and Boston, Massachusetts, including Legal Research and Special Projects; Appellate Division; and field attorney. Mr. Zaiger received a Juris Doctorate, in 1967, from the Boston College Law School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, in 1964, from the University of Massachusetts. He is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts.

As the Boston Regional Director, Mr. Zaiger is responsible for management of personnel and operations relating to the investigation, analysis, resolution, and litigation of unfair labor practice cases and the processing of representation petitions for cases arising in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The FLRA is an independent agency responsible for administering the labor-management relations program for 1.9 million non-Postal Service Federal employees world-wide, approximately 1.1 million of whom are exclusively represented in more than 2,000 bargaining units. The FLRA is comprised of three components, including the Authority; the Federal Service Impasses Panel; and the Office of the General Counsel. The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for processing unfair labor practice charges and representation petitions through seven Regional Offices, located in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
