PANEL TO MEET IN ATLANTA TO HEAR FROM CUSTOMERS

The Federal Service Impasses Panel (the Panel) will hold a roundtable discussion in Atlanta on May 4 with Federal agency management and union leaders representing federal employees. Participants will have a chance to meet the Panel Members and staff and suggest ways to improve the quality of Panel services.

Panel Chair Betty Bolden said that she and Panel Members Gilbert Carrillo, Bonnie Castrey, Stanley Fisher, Dolly Gee, Edward Hartfield, and Mary Jacksteit will meet face-to-face with their customers. "We are committed to providing quality service to agency and union representatives in the Federal government," said Chair Bolden. "Hearing directly from our customers ensures that we continue to effectively meet their changing needs, particularly in this time of government-wide reorganization."

The Federal Service Impasses Panel, a component within the Federal Labor Relations Authority, is the last step in Federal sector collective bargaining -- the substitute for the strike and lockout in the private sector. The Panel is charged with resolving impasses between Federal agencies and unions representing Federal employees arising from negotiations over conditions of employment under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute and the Federal Employees Flexible and Compressed Work Schedules Act.

The roundtable discussion with Chair Bolden, other Panel members, and staff will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, May 4, 1998, in Conference Room D of the Atlanta Federal Center, 60 Forsyth Street, Atlanta, Georgia. To assist in planning for the meeting, please contact Cynthia Butler at (202) 482-6670 by May 1, 1998, if you plan to attend.
