FEDERAL SERVICE IMPASSES PANEL PLANS ROUNDTABLE DIALOGUE IN LOS ANGELES

Bonnie Prouty Castrey, Chair of the Federal Service Impasses Panel, (Panel) announced today that the Panel will conduct its annual out of town roundtable dialogue with Federal sector management and labor representatives on May 19, 2000 in Los Angles, California. The meeting will be held at the Hilton Los Angles Airport Hotel.

The roundtable will provide the Panel and its staff with an opportunity to hear from costumers regarding their interests and concerns about the impasse resolution process. Training on the Panel's processes will be provided, along with an update of its recent decisions. Panel members will be present, including Ms. Castrey who was recently appointed Chair, and newly appointed Members Marvin Johnson, David Leland, and John Wofford. The session will be interactive and is open to all interested persons.

Reservations are encouraged. Those who plan to attend should contact Lisa Harris or Cynthia Butler at (202)-482-6670.

The FLRA is an independent agency that administers the labor-management relations program for 1.9 million federal employees worldwide, 1.1 million of whom are exclusively represented in more than 2,200 bargaining units. The Panel, a component of the FLRA, is charged with resolving impasses between Federal agencies and unions representing Federal employees arising from negotiations over conditions of employment under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute and the Federal Employees Flexible and Compressed Work Schedules Act.
