GENERAL COUNSEL TO HOLD TOWN HALL
MEETING IN HONOLULU

The FLRA's General Counsel, Joe Swerdzewski, will hold a town hall meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 1. The meeting is intended to provide information regarding the policies and guidance issued by the General Counsel. In addition, participants will have a chance to speak with the General Counsel and members of his staff and suggest ways to improve the quality of OGC services.

"I believe town hall meetings are an effective way for the Office of General Counsel to provide information to the Federal agencies, Federal employees, and organizations representing Federal employees about how we operate and any changes that we may be contemplating," said General Counsel Swerdzewski. "Talking directly to our customers helps us ensure that we are effectively meeting their needs, especially in today's era of rapid change."

The Office of the General Counsel is the independent investigative and prosecutorial component of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) that investigates and settles or prosecutes unfair labor practice charges. The General Counsel also periodically issues guidance to the FLRA's Regional Directors on the parties' legal rights and duties in the context of resolving unfair labor practice charges.

The round table discussion with General Counsel Swerdzewski and his staff will take place on Friday, May 1, 1998, at Assembly Hall 1554, U.S. Army Reserve Center, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Any questions about the meeting should be directed to Robert F. Griem, Chairman, FEB Labor Relations Advisory Group at (808) 474-6040.
