GENERAL COUNSEL TO HOLD TOWN HALL
MEETING IN SYRACUSE

The FLRA's General Counsel, Joe Swerdzewski, will hold a town hall meeting in Syracuse, New York, on May 14. The meeting is intended to provide information regarding the policies and guidance issued by the General Counsel. In addition, participants will have a chance to speak with the General Counsel and members of his staff and suggest ways to improve the quality of OGC services.

"Town hall meetings are a useful way for the Office of General Counsel to share information with the Federal agencies, Federal employees, and organizations representing Federal employees about what we do and possible changes that we may be contemplating," said General Counsel Swerdzewski. "Meeting directly with our customers allows us ensure that we are successfully meeting their needs, especially in today's era of rapid change."

The Office of the General Counsel is the independent investigative and prosecutorial component of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) that investigates and settles or prosecutes unfair labor practice charges. The General Counsel also periodically issues guidance to the FLRA's Regional Directors on the parties' legal rights and duties in the context of resolving unfair labor practice charges.

The round table discussion with General Counsel Swerdzewski and his staff will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 1998, at the Quality Inn, 1308 Buckley Road, North Syracuse. Any questions about the meeting should be directed to Ms. Joan Cardia at (617) 424-5730.
