FLRA'S WASHINGTON D.C. TRAINING CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 14 AND 15, 1999

The Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) announced today that its upcoming 20th Anniversary Training Conference will be held in Washington, D.C. at the International Trade Center on June 14 and 15, 1999. The Washington, D.C. event is the second of a two-part series of training conferences. An earlier conference in Denver, Colorado on May 4 and 5, 1999 drew more than 150 union representatives, agency representatives, and neutrals from 24 states.

The Washington D.C. Training Conference will feature luncheon addresses by Robert M. Tobias, outgoing President of the National Treasury Employees Union, and the Honorable Abner J. Mikva, formerly Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and a member of Congress at the time of the passage of the Civil Service Reform Act that created the FLRA. Also in attendance will be the FLRA's past leadership who will be acknowledged for their earlier service. The Conference's workshops will feature training on the FLRA's rewritten negotiability, unfair labor practice, and representation regulations. Space is still available for the D.C. Conference.

The FLRA is an independent agency that administers the labor-management relations program for 1.9 million non-Postal Service Federal employees worldwide, approximately 1.1 million of whom are exclusively represented in 2,200 bargaining units. It is charged with providing leadership in establishing policies and guidance related to Federal sector labor-management relations and with resolving disputes under and ensuring compliance with the Statute.

Interested persons may register on the FLRA's web site at www.flra.gov., or by calling the Conference Coordinator, Circle Solutions, at 703-902-1241. For further information regarding the conferences contact Patty Reilly at (202)-482-6500.
