FLRA TO HOLD TOWN MEETING IN D.C.

Building on the success of last year’s town meetings held across the country, the FLRA has begun a new round of town meetings with its customers from coast-to-coast. The FLRA today announced that it will hold a town meeting to hear the views and concerns of union and management representatives in the Washington D.C. area. The town meeting, which is open to the public, will be held on:

Wednesday, March 27, 1996
9:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Library of Congress
Mumford Room, 6th Floor, Madison Building
101 Independence Ave., S.E., Washington D.C.

FLRA Chair Phyllis Segal and General Counsel Joseph Swerdzewski, as well as FLRA Regional Director Michael Doheny, will talk about the host of FLRA initiatives launched over the last year. They will be available to answer questions and respond to customer concerns about the FLRA and the federal sector labor-management relations program. Topics covered will include the FLRA’s new Collaboration and Alternative Dispute Resolution program (CADR) and the General Counsel’s policies and guidance concerning quality and scope of ULP investigations, teams and information requests.

All federal employees -- union and managers, alike -- are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP to Verneal Blackiston, Washington Regional Office, (202) 653-8506.

The Federal Labor Relations Authority is an independent agency that administers the labor-management relations program for over 1.9 million Federal employees world-wide, over 1.3 million of whom are exclusively represented in more than 2,500 bargaining units. The FLRA fulfills its mission through three major operational components: the Authority -- the three-member quasi-judicial body; the Office of General Counsel -- the independent investigative and prosecutorial component; and the Federal Service Impasses Panel -- the independent body that resolves negotiation impasses.
